Middlewood Station to Whaley Bridge


    A 9½ mile moderate walk led by Elaine Hawthorne.

    Starting at 10:30 from Middlewood Station, catch the 09:49 from Manchester Piccadilly to Middlewood, or the 09:27 from Buxton.

    Route: Middlewood Station, Ladybrook Valley, Lyme Park, Bow Stones, Gritstone Trail, Sponds Hill, Taxal Edge, Toddbrook Reservoir, Whaley Bridge Station.

    Returning from Whaley Bridge Station at 15:44 / 16:46 to Manchester Piccadilly or 15:28 / 16:29 to Buxton.


Hope Valley Line, Saturday 22nd April
"Edge to Edge across the Kinder Plateau"


    A 11½ mile strenuous walk led by David Ross.

    Starting at 10:00 from Edale Station, catch the 08:49 from Manchester Piccadilly to Edale, or the 09:14 from Sheffield.

    Route: Edale Station, Ringing Roger, Seven Minute Crossing, Seal Edge, Fairbrook Fords, Kinder Gates, Kinder Downfall, Red Brook, Edale Rocks, Pym Chair, Crowden Tower, Grindslow Knoll, Edale Station

    Returning from Edale at 16:49 to Manchester Piccadilly or 16:34 to Sheffield


Buxton Line, Saturday 6th May
Buxton Botany Circular


    A 9½ mile moderate (slow pace) walk led by Paul Senkans.

    Starting at 10:15 from Buxton Station, catch the 08:49 from Manchester Piccadilly to Buxton

    Route: Buxton Station, Waterswallows Road, Tunstead Quarry, Pennine Bridleway, Chee Dale, Wye Dale, Woo Dale, Fairfield Low, Waterswallows Road, Buxton Station.

    No dogs due to nesting birds. Varied species of flowers (some rare) in a Limestone area.

    Returning from Buxton 16:29 / 17:28 to Manchester Piccadilly. Please check train timetable for changes.


Glossop Line, Saturday 20th May
Bleaklow Highlights (Hadfield to Glossop)


    A 12 mile strenuous walk from Hadfield led by Mike Pell.

    Starting at 10:00 from Hadfield Station, catch the 09:18 from Manchester Piccadilly to Hadfield. Please check for timetable changes.

    Route: Hadfield Station, Longdendale Trail to Pennine Way, Torside Clough, Bleaklow Head (2,076 feet), Hern Stones, Higher Shelf Stones , Higher Shelf Stones (2,037 feet), Shelf Moor, Little Clough, Old Glossop, Glossop Station.

    Returning from Glossop Station at 16:07 or 16:37 to Manchester Piccadilly.

The Grindleford Grind


    An 15 mile strenuous walk from Grindleford led by Bob Findlow.

    Starting at 10:00 from Grindleford Station, catch the 08:49 from Manchester Piccadilly to Grindleford Station.

    Route: Grindleford Station, Froggatt, Eyam, Middleton Dale, High Rake, Hassop, Ridge to Calver, Froggatt Edge, Grindleford Station

    Returning from Grindleford Station at 17:28 to Manchester Piccadilly or 17:50 to Sheffield


Glossop Line, Saturday 17th June
Hadfield Circular


    A 9½ mile moderate at easy pace - mostly flat walk from Hadfield led by Andy Wilkin.

    Starting at 9:30 from Hadfield Station, catch the 08:46 from Manchester Piccadilly to Hadfield. Please check for timetable changes.

    Route: Hadfield Station, Longendale Trail, Woodhead Dam, Crowden, Hadfield Station.

    Returning from Hadfield at 14:59 to Manchester Piccadilly or earlier in time to enjoy the free 7th Annual Hadfield Open Arts show as supported by The Friends of Hadfield Station. Trains are 29 and 59 minutes past the hour.
